Banana T-Shirt

What do you get when you design a white shirt, a banana and a crazy thought?

YOU GET THIS….

My colleague designed this a few weeks ago for a client but our boss was reluctant in presenting it. I really like the humor in it, my colleague even wore this the whole day and every time he passes by a different department they’d really smile or laugh. It was a good ice breaker if you’re having a rough day.

What do you guys think about the shirt? Would you buy this?

Congratulations Harold Sevilla for Markus

I just wrote this email and sent it as an email report for my boss, superiors and colleagues along with the sister companies. I really had to do it and congratulate my colleague.

"Before going to bed and before Day 2 of Philippine Fashion Week gets out of my system, I'd like to congratulate one of our colleagues, Harold Sevilla, for his designs for Markus. I lost count of all the jeans and top that was used tonight for SM Department Store’s fashion show. I have to admit that the fashion show is a success. As the models were “brisk walking” on the runway/catwalk all eyes stuck to those jeans and cotton candy (as I called it) v-neck shirts that was layered with other colored polo shirts.

The never ending “red jeans” is still my favorite and yes it was also worn by one of the models and was also used in the finale walk.

I’ll be grabbing the pictures from bloggers (with their consent) once they’ve uploaded it on their blog or flickr accounts.

CONGRATULATIONS again for Harold… Keep up the great work…"

DENIM 101 : BERMUDA SHORTS

I first thing that I learned on my first day at work were BERMUDA SHORTS!

When one of our Account Executives game me a list of designs she wanted, one type of shorts caught my eye and that was the Bermuda shorts. It’s a long short that’s just above the knee; according to Wikipedia it’s also called walking shorts and some online retailers call them golf shorts. I’m into shorts and I didn’t know that one of my favorite shorts that I bought a couple of years ago were Bermuda shorts! If you’re not into short or mini shorts, this is one type of shorts that you can wear.

Here are some Bermuda shorts that I like that from Shopbop and Denimology.

NiCaVia introduces Denim Designer

After working in the call center industry for almost 3 years, I finally got tired and started to find a normal job. As 2010 arrived, I’ve sent out 33 job applications on the internet, after a week I got a text message saying I got a job interview and exam at one apparel company.

One of my longest work as a graphic artist was also from the same industry and since I had some experience designing jeans, they endorsed me to their sister company that were a supplier for a number of local brands. I was scheduled for a second interview and exam the following week. To my surprise there wasn’t any exam but just an interview and my job offer! I never imagined that I’d get the job, didn’t even think I’d still have some ideas on designing. I started working Feb 1, 2010 and I’m learning a lot. Aside from designing, there’s also doing research on fashion forecast and what’s other denim brands have designed that I can use for inspiration.
